Surgery

It is a branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the mouth, teeth and jaws. All kinds of cysts, tumours and soft tissue lesions that may occur in the jaw bone and soft tissues are included in the field of interest of this branch. The most common procedure is embedded wisdom surgery.

20 Age Teeth

The wisdom teeth start to take place in the jaw from the age of 16. Since they are too far back, they decay very quickly because they cannot be cleaned well. Sometimes, since they cannot find a place for themselves, they either remain impacted or cannot erupt where and how they should be. Cysts can form around impacted wisdom teeth, they can put pressure on other teeth due to their position; they can cause crowding, inflammation and therefore pain. In such cases, if the physician thinks that keeping such teeth in the mouth will damage other teeth and surrounding tissues, extraction is decided.

Impacted wisdom teeth, like other teeth, are extracted under local anaesthesia without the patient feeling any pain. After the operation, if the patient follows the recommendations of the physician, this period will be more comfortable. A small amount of pain and swelling after surgery is considered normal, but the patient can continue his/her daily life most of the time.
